As a professional musician, Dr. Guillermo Hernandez performs with various ensembles from time to time in performances spanning many styles and genres. As a composer, his music has been performed in a variety of venues across the United States and Mexico. His commissioned composition works range from “highart” contemporary works to arrangements of popular folk tunes.
Dr. Guillermo Hernandez received a B.M. in Piano Performance from Florida Southern College, a M.M in Composition from Baylor University and a Ph.D. in Music Theory/Composition from Kent State University. He has been a post-secondary music educator for over a decade, teaching a variety of music courses that include class piano, private lessons, theory, ear-training, music history and music appreciation. Currently, Dr. Guillermo Hernandez is a music professor at San Jacinto College where he teaches courses in music theory, ear-training and music appreciation.
Dr. Guillermo Hernandez has over 15 years of private music teaching experience. He has taught students of all ages ranging from children as young as 4 years of age to adults. Teaching is his passion and finds fulfillment in helping others learn to love music that way he does.
