Kyle Smith is a vocalist, pianist and avid music educator raised and reared in the Houston area. A two-time graduate of Houston Baptist University, receiving his Bachelor’s in Christianity (cum laude) as well as his Master’s in Biblical Languages, Mr. Smith brings a unique perspective to the practice of music performance and pedagogy. As a music educator, Mr. Smith draws upon his long experience as a choral musician, solo performer (in both piano and voice), private educator and, formerly, assistant director at a growing music school. He prides himself on making music learning enjoyable for each student while upholding clear standards of order, excellence and rigor.
As a solo vocalist, Mr. Smith has performed numerous solos – classical, choral and popular – and received various honors and awards for his vocal performance including an honorable mention at the Texas-Oklahoma NATS Vocal Competition and 1st place in the Greater Houston NATS Vocal Competition – (classical male division, sophomore year). As a choral musician, Mr. Smith was honored to be a member of the TMEA All-State High School Choir twice, as well as a member of Houston Baptist University’s premiere choral ensemble (Schola Cantorum) and a selected member of its premiere male vocal octet (The King’s Singers). As a pianist, Mr. Smith continues to perform at weddings, church events and other events in the Houston area upon request.
Mr. Smith is currently pursuing his post-baccalaureate Bachelor’s in Biology with a Cellular & Molecular Sciences Concentration at the University of Houston-Downtown, where he is also a member of the Kang laboratory involved in Drosophila research. He intends to pursue a career as a primary care pediatric physician.
