Vivace Summer Music Institute
This summer, we have ten students participated in the Vivace Summer Music Institute. In the week of July 9th – 13th, students studied solo repertoire and duets during the duration of the camp and got to perform as a community service outreach at Colonial Oaks Assisted Living and The Abbey. These performances were well-recieved by the residents of these institutions who sometimes clapped along with the students. Students were also exposed to music theory and music history during the duration of the camp. The students also had the unique opportunity to accompany a violist, Vivo’s own Dr. Sylvia Chien and attend a small vocal recital sung by Ms. Kelly Fan, another member of Vivo’s faculty. Ms. Fan sang standard Italian, German, and French selections including Sebben Crudele, Du Ring an meinem Finger, andHébé. The camp concluded with performances of the student’s solo and duet literature as well as pieces they composed themselves.
